With Earth Day quickly approaching, President Obama is eager to warn the nation about the perils of climate change.
And what better way to send a message about clean air than to jump on Air Force One and blaze a carbon trail from Washington, D.C., to the Florida Everglades?
“Rising sea levels are putting a national treasure, and an economic engine for the South Florida tourism industry, at risk,” Obama said Saturday in his weekly address, according to The Hill. “Climate change can no longer be denied or ignored. The world is looking to the United States, to us, to lead. And that’s what we’re doing.”
The world is also looking to the United States to lead in the Middle East, as Islamic State militants wreak havoc on the region. But that’s a whole other subject.

Obama will fly to the “Sunshine State” on Wednesday to promote his theory on how climate change may threaten the economy, according to The Hill. Since the trip falls in the middle of the week, he may not get the chance to squeeze in 18 holes of golf.

“Power up the jet,” as one social media user stated, here comes Obama! Here’s a sampling of the reactions on social media to Obama’s plans:
Power up the jet, boys! We’re going to Florida because we care about the pollution! @thehill

@thehill Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll be eaten by an alligator!

@thehill Best way for Obama to celebrate Earth Day is to stop giving his long winded, hot air speeches & stop spreading his manure

@S1CT @thehill Wait. There are golf courses in Florida? Must be a coincidence.

@thehill How much jet fuel will be burned in order to get him to this ‘climate change – woe is us’ event? #RagingHypocrite

@tan123 Liberals definitely think burning jet fuel is key to stopping the climate from changing

@thehill @marstu67 Did someone tell him he isn’t allowed to say climate change or global warming in FL?
