Actor Bradley Cooper was honored at the MTV Movie Awards Sunday for his portrayal of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in “American Sniper,” but he shot the honor right back at Kyle — and the men and women in the armed forces.
“I want to thank MTV and the fans … It’s because of you, you brought awareness to the men and women and their families in the military and what they do for us on a daily basis,” Cooper said.
Then he got more personal.
“Chris Kyle would have turned 41 four days ago, Cooper said. “Chris, this is for you.”
Cooper was denied the “Best Actor” recognition at the Academy Awards ceremony earlier this year out of what some call a sense of political correctness. MTV, surprisingly enough, apparently doesn’t have that problem.
