Jindal, Cruz attack gay ‘jihad’ against Christians from Hollywood and big business

Two top Republicans with a good shot at the 2016 presidential nomination say Christian rights and values are under assault by liberal America’s gay-rights agenda.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas both say corporations, Hollywood and the left are infringing on Christian rights, The Hill reported.

At an Iowa Homeschooling event Thursday, Jindal said Hollywood is teaming up with corporations to try to undermine Indiana’s newly enacted Religious Restoration Act, to the detriment of Christians.

“We saw a very unusual alliance this week,” Jindal told the crowd, according to The Hill. “An alliance between Hollywood elites and corporate America assaulting the rights of Christians who don’t want to choose between our faith, our sincerely held beliefs, and the ability to run our businesses.

“We need to remind these elites, America didn’t create religious liberty,” he added. “Religious liberty created the United States of America.”

Cruz took it a step further when he spoke at the same event, saying those who assault religious freedom are like jihadists, Salon reported.

“We look at the jihad that is being waged right now in Indiana and Arkansas going after people of faith who respect the biblical teaching that marriage is the union of one man [and] one woman,” Cruz said.

“It wasn’t long ago when this was an area of bipartisan agreement,” he added. “When it came to the First Amendment, we all stood together and said, ‘Of course every one of us has a God-given right to seek out and worship God and to live according to our faith and our conscience and our beliefs.”
