Newly-released dashcam video shows traffic stop that led to shooting of Walter Scott

South Carolina authorities have released the dashcam video of former North Charleston patrolman Michael Slager depicting the four-minute period leading up to the moment he began chasing Walter Scott and ultimately killed him.

It began innocently enough when Slager asks Scott for his drivers license and vehicle registration after pulling him over for driving with a broken tail light.

At some point, Scott runs from his vehicle, with Slager giving chase, shouting “taser! taser! taser!” Both men run out of range of the dashcam video.

Previously released cell phone video from a witness depicts Slager shooting Scott eight times in the back, killing him. It was on the basis of that video that Slager was charged with murder.
