If you’re tired of CNN’s overuse of re-enactments, this weekend’s edition of “Saturday Night Live” was for you.
The weekly comedy show parodied the liberal news network’s overly dramatic dependence on fake portrayals of real-live events, to hilarious effect.
“I’m Brooke Baldwin, and you’re watching the loose collection of daytime nonsense we call the CNN Newsroom,” SNL regular Cecily Strong said as the CNN anchor.
She then led off with a re-enactment of the Germanwings airplane crash, showing an animated pilot using the bathroom and attempting to open the locked cockpit door — all of it in grainy graphics.
“We were lucky enough to get the same team that did the Dire Straits’ ‘Money For Nothing’ video from 1985,” SNL actress Sasheer Zamata said while playing CNN reporter Jacqueline Jackson.
Watch Crowder go undercover to Muslim bakeries to order gay wedding cake.
Other sketches had the Muppets acting out the Iran nuclear negotiations and playing an art troupe performing an artistic interpretation of the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
Saturday’s show also featured SNL star Jay Pharaoh as CNN’s Don Lemon repeatedly rapping the line, “Black people need to pull up their pants.”
