Conservative radio talk show host Tammy Bruce appeared on Fox & Friends Thursday steaming mad about a small Indiana pizzeria owner who is being drummed out of business by militant gays because of his support for Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
Bruce, incidentally, is openly gay.
The militant activism of the LGBT community has become the very “anthesis of what every civil rights movement was about,” Bruce told Fox & Friends co-host Tucker Carlson.
The brouhaha began when the owner of a small-town Indiana pizza restaurant remarked that although anyone was welcome into his establishment, he would decline an invitation to cater a gay wedding because of his religious beliefs.
Within hours of his interview with a local TV station, he was deluged with hateful phone calls and threatening posts on social media, and was forced to close the doors of his business.
“If there’s anyone in the world who should understand the vulnerability of being a minority, of being somebody that maybe others don’t understand or relate to, the vulnerability about work and jobs, being able to live your life as you see fit, it’s the gay community,” Bruce fumed.
Bruce likened the Indiana controversy to the outrage that broke out among conservatives when the fast food chain Chick-fil-A was targeted by gay rights activists because of comments the company’s president made about gay marriage in 2012.
“I think when you see a mob operating, there is fear, and you tend to retreat,” Bruce added. “We saw this with Chick-fil-A. Everyone came to their defense when they were under attack by fascists, by bullies. The gay liberals have turned into bullies, when our work is to stop that kind of behavior.”
This isn’t the first time Bruce has gone on the warpath against the militant left on this issue.
Last year, when Brendan Eich was drummed out of his position as Mozilla CEO for supporting traditional marriage — the very thing President Obama claimed he supported in 2008 — she tweeted:
Hi @mozilla, I’m a gay woman who is appalled that you caved to the Gay Gestapo. So who else will be pressured to leave for not conforming?

But what was described as the most brilliant tweet following this incident came from another gay conservative:
Dear @Mozilla: I’m gay & I didn’t come out of the closet so fascist leftists could force Christians INTO the closet. Shame on you!

Bruce is right. The gay community forgot what it was like to be “different.” Funny thing is, I never thought I’d see the day when being Christian was “different.”
