MSM ‘agents of Satan’? CNN anchor uses gay Christian to attack former colleague

The vitriol and attacks over Indiana’s Restoration of Religious Freedome Act have reached a fever pitch, and nowhere is that more apparent than CNN who has now turned its gaze toward former contributor Erick Erickson.

Erickson posted an article on his website Red State in which he reiterated a point he made two years ago about people who said, “I don’t care about gay marriage.” That point is: “You will be made to care.”

“In the last twenty-four hours, much of the mainstream media has shown itself perfectly willing to serve as agents of Satan (or should I use Moloch to make you feel better?),” Erickson wrote. “Most of the news anchors, reporters, and opinion writers of the press are perfectly fine forcing you to violate your conscience as long as they do not have to.”

CNN’s Carol Costello took umbrage at the sentiment expressed by her one-time colleague and invited Matthew Vines, author of “God and The Gay Christian” to get his take on Erickson’s comments.

“Erick Erickson’s views represent the beliefs of the older guard within, even the conservative church,” he said. “I represent the views of my generation, the millennials, who tend to have a much more open stance on this issue.”

Vines said laws like the one in Indiana “allow Christians to distort their faith, not to express it.”

“For Christians to want to fight on this issue and to use their political power in order to refuse service to others is a complete misrepresentation of the Jesus that we find in the Gospels and the Jesus that the Christian tradition has historically honored and (sought) to live our lives after,” he added.

He claimed the Bible doesn’t condemn “sex relationships that are based on long-term commitment and love.”

Not sure what edition of the Bible he’s reading, but centuries of Christian tradition — up until about yesterday — say otherwise.
