Ivy league dean caught in undercover video inviting ISIS to campus

College campuses are increasingly places that take political correctness to the extreme, but inviting Islamist terrorists onto campus for training takes it to another level.

Cornell University’s assistant dean for students, Joseph Scaffido was caught on video released Tuesday agreeing to allow ISIS and Hamas representatives on campus, the New York Post reported.

Fortunately the request was not real.

It was part of an undercover sting operation conducted by conservative activist James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas in which an investigator posed as a Moroccan looking to attend Cornell and start a club.

Among the requests Scaffido agreed to, and he agreed to everything, was a “training camp” conducted by an ISIS “freedom fighter.”

In fact, Scaffido likened it to bringing in a coach to train a sports team.

He even agreed to have the group send care packages to the Islamic State “freedom fighters” with food, water and electronics.

Scaffido may be able to claim confusion because the journalist said “Islamic State” rather than ISIS, but there is no confusing a question asked about Hamas.

“If you did like, supported like Hamas or something like that, is that a problem or?” he asked.

“The university is not going to look at different groups and say you’re not allowed to support that group because we don’t believe in them or something like that,” he said. “I think it’s just the opposite. I think the university wants the entire community to understand what’s going on in all parts of the world.”

Scaffido told the undercover investigator the town of Ithica, where Cornell is located, would be good with the idea because “it’s very liberal, the community is a very liberal community.”

A top Cornell spokesman tried to disavow the assistant dean’s comments.

“Cornell fully supports the free exchange of ideas and does not review or control the political ideology of our students,” Joel Malina, Cornell’s vice president for university relations said in a statement to the Post. “We do not, of course, tolerate unlawful advocacy of violence, and the comment about training by ISIS freedom fighters does not reflect university policy.”

Interesting.

No training camp, but you would be good with Hamas and ISIS representatives coming to the school to speak?

The Twitterverse had some ideas for activities the ISIS club could do.
