Snoop Dogg attacks Ronald Reagan! Blame ‘the Gipper’ – not gangs – for drugs, murder

Veteran hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg wasn’t rapping Friday when he delivered the 2015 SXSW Music keynote address.

Speaking at the wildly popular Austin, Tex. festival, Snoop, 43, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, Jr., blamed President Ronald Reagan for LA’s gang problems in the 1980’s.

Snoop plugged his upcoming HBO project about life on the west coast during the ’80s.

“Early in the ‘70s and toward the latter part of the ‘70s everything was beautiful because we had ways to have fun and communicate, and those who were underprivileged, the low economic side of life, the government would provide for us, which helped us get by,” he said, according to The Daily Beast.

The Doggfather continued, “It was a society and we all needed it and we all had it and we all helped each other.

“Then when Reaganomics kicked in, certain things were taken away, after-school programs and things of that nature.

“Guns and drugs were shipped into the neighborhood.

“So it was a shift of having fun and playing football to selling drugs and shooting at each other. To me it was a system that was designed, because when the Reaganomics era began, that’s when this began.”

Reaganomics was a combination of spending cuts and tax cuts based on so-called “supply-side economics.”

With 30 million albums sold worldwide, Snoop’s life hasn’t turned out so badly.  He has given some of that wealth back to his old neighborhood, through the Snoop Youth Football League.

“One of the happiest days of my life was seeing my son pick a school and knowing that he’s going to college,” said Snoop, whose son Cordell Broadus recently committed to UCLA as a wide receiver.

Snoop later posted a Yakit video depicting himself in a conversation with Reagan, in which he captured his Reaganomics allegations.
