After Tulsa resident Doug Jandebeur, 84, was struck in the side of the head and robbed of his wallet, he turned the tables and sent the thief running in fear for his life, according to Oklahoma’s News on 6.
Events began to unfold when Jandebeur sensed the robber approach behind him as he was heading to his truck.
“The guy starts saying, ‘Don’t turn around, don’t turn around,'” Jandebeur told the station.
Until the thief punched him in the side of the face, Jandebeur thought it was a friend playing a practical joke.
“I felt him take my billfold out and he head over to the door where my wife was,” Jandebeur continued.
After looking inside the truck, the robber suddenly took off running. The reason?
“I pulled out my automatic and was getting ready to ventilate him,” Jandebeur said. “Once he saw my gun he decided to leave.”
He also has some good advice for other law-abiding citizens: “Anybody who doesn’t arm themselves is asking for trouble.”
