What Obama just said about former President George Bush has people covering their ears

Six years into Barack Obama’s presidency, he’s still blaming Bush.

In a nauseatingly soft-ball sitdown with VICE News last week (VICE interviewer Shane Smith makes Barbara Walters look like Trey Gowdy), Obama fielded a question about the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria by putting tracing it directly to the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003 and his predecessor, George W. Bush.

(ISIS discussion begins about the 11:45 mark)

“Two things,” the president said, using his customary confusing acronym for the terrorists the rest of the world calls ISIS or the Islamic State.

“One is, ISIL is a direct outgrowth of al Qaeda in Iraq that grew out of our invasion. Which is an example of unintended consequences. Which is why we should generally aim before we shoot.”

The jab, of course, ignored the reality that it was Obama’s early withdrawal from Iraq – pressed by his liberal base and supported by his idiot vice president – that actually created the power vacuum that allowed ISIS to flourish.

Alert social media users didn’t hesitate to pounce.

But if you look at it one way, Obama has a point. If the United States hadn’t invaded Iraq, there might be no ISIS … and if Hitler and Tojo had had their way, there might be not a United States around to do it.

And if Napoleon had won at Waterloo, there might not have been any world wars at all, and if the War of Jenkin’s Ear had turned out differently ….

To Obama, everything’s on the wrong side of history.

Even Obama.
