Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza quoted Abraham Lincoln in a Facebook video posted Friday, accusing President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder’s Justice Department of being “wily agitators” in Ferguson.
“What we are seeing in Ferguson, Mo., is the emergence of a vicious oppositional culture, aimed at the authorities and aimed at the police,” D’Souza said in the video, saying the culture is being “deliberately cultivated [and] encouraged by the Holder Justice Department.”
D’Souza said a recent Justice Department report accusing the Ferguson Police Department of discrimination is like saying the agency is “made up of racist scum.”
“These are people who allegedly hate blacks, they target blacks, and sure enough, you’ve got blacks on the street who are saying, ‘Alright, what do we do about these guys?'” he said.
D’Souza also pointed out the report confirmed that Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson “acted appropriately in using force against Michael Brown,” adding that Wilson was trying to prevent “lawlessness and brutality on the streets of Ferguson.”
Now, D’Souza said, Wilson’s attempts to protect city residents are being “turned into an example in which the police are made into the bad guys.”
“We have a lot of wily agitators among us, and many of them are in the Justice Department,” D’Souza said. “And the biggest one of them lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. They, too, have a hand in the latest lawlessness in Ferguson.”
