The city of West Palm Beach set the nation’s woes onto the back burner Sunday to engage in something that’s guaranteed to put a grin on everyone’s face, no matter their age:
Rubber duckies — 10,000 of them, according to local news sources.
The ducks swam in a half-block long pool in the popular shopping district in downtown West Palm to benefit Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches for its third Annual Duck Derby, according to United Press International.
Each duck had a barcode that may or may not correspond to a prize. Participants purchased tickets for the opportunity to fish ducks out of the pond while blindfolded.
They paid $5 per duck, $25 for six ducks or $100 for 25.
Prizes ranged from meals at local restaurants all the way up to a grand prize worth $5,000 — a vacation at an Orlando resort.
