Pharrell, Moby offer to help throw party with over 2,000 women for man who was fat-shamed online while dancing

A man who was dejected and ridiculed for his dancing and weight, in a sad display of the ugly side of humanity online last week, is about to feel much better about himself.

Nearly 2,000 women want to dance with him.

The man, only identified as Dancing Man, was publicly shamed on internet forum 4Chan when a user posted pictures of him at first happily dancing and then disheartened after he noticed the cameraman and his friends laughing at him.

The photo was uploaded to picture sharing website Imgur where a woman named Cassandra Fairbanks, of the Free Thought Project, sought to find the man and give him the all female dance party.

Fairbanks issued a formal invitation that partially read “We want to see you dance freely and if you would have us, we would love to dance with you.”

The mission went viral with the hashtag #FindDancingMan.

Hours after the campaign began Dancing Man, whose real name is Sean, was found.

He set up his own Twitter account and tweeted a picture with a sign that read “Hi Cass & Twitter (as requested!).”

After Fairbanks confirmed that they found the right man she tweeted “YAY TWITTER!!! @Dancingmanfound #FindDancingMan. We are going to dance!!!”

Award winning musicians Pharrell Williams, whose hits include “Blurred Lines with Robin Thicke” and “Happy” and Moby, Richard Melville Hall, who is most famous for his electron pop and DJing have all sent well wishes with Moby going as far as to offer his DJ services for free at the dance party.

“Hey @CassandraRules keep me posted about your dance party! @Dancingmanfound, never be ashamed of yourself. You are both truly #OTHER,” Pharrell wrote.

Singer / songwriter Andrew W.K. famous for his partying ways whose most famous works include “Party Hard” and “We Want Fun,” also tweeted his support.

The party has exploded on social media, and restored a little faith in humanity for many.

The Dancing Man himself joined Twitter and shared his thoughts, and some pictures of his own.

There’s even a GoFundMe page to raise money for the party, with additional monies being given to an anti-bullying charity, that has raised more than $25,000 as of Saturday.
