President Obama fired a warning shot of sorts at the Ferguson Police Department, issuing an ultimatum: Submit to the Department of Justice or be sued.
“The city of Ferguson will now have to make a decision. Are they going to enter into some sort of agreement with the Justice Department to fix what is clearly a broken and racially biased system?” Obama told the crowd at a town-hall meeting at Benedict College in Columbia, S.C. . “Or if they don’t, then the Justice Department has the capacity to sue the city for violations of the rights of the people of Ferguson.”
If there’s one thing Obama believes, it’s that everything works better when the federal government is in control — and that includes local police departments.
