Fox News host Megyn Kelly was fired up Wednesday in response to a Justice Department report that cleared Ferguson, Mo., police Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown, but saved her most stinging criticism for race provocateur Al Sharpton for “stoking the fires” of racial discord.
Reading from the report, Kelly noted that the agency debunked the myth of “hands up, don’t shoot,” which became a national rally cry for those protesting Brown’s death.
Guest Mark Hannah, a Democratic strategist, also drew Kelly’s ire when he tried to re-write history by suggesting that those protests were not the result of “some misquote of ‘hands up, don’t shoot.'”
“That’s not true!” Kelly said, shockingly.
Fellow guest Dana Loesch concurred that protesters used the phrase as their mantra “for months and months.”
Hannah tried to shift away to a “broad pattern of racist policing,” but Kelly wasn’t having any part of it.
“That justifies this, Mark? she fired back. “What we saw, all these folks with their ‘hands up, don’t shoot,’ which did not happen!”
Kelly also kept the focus on Sharpton’s words and actions, and how he pushed a false narrative to incite protesters and drive racial animosity.
