Administration official’s response to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to US Congress

Israeli Prime Minister gave one of the most anticipated speeches of all time Tuesday before Congress expounding on the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran.

In the immediate aftermath of the speech CNN’s Jake Tapper reported that the response from an unnamed senior Obama administration official was, “Literally, not one new idea. Not one single concrete alternative. All rhetoric, no action.”

Team Obama cheerleader David Axelrod echoed that sentiment.

Netanyahu expressed at the beginning of his speech that he never intended for his visit to be perceived as a political move.

“That was never my intention,” he said.

The prime minister warned that Iran could be weeks away from having a nuclear weapon and that his concern was a bad deal between the U.S. and Iran that “could well threaten the survival of my country.”

He told Congress not to buy into the idea that Iran could be a help in the fight against the Islamic State.

“When it comes to Iran and ISIS, the enemy of your enemy is your enemy,” he said.

Then Netanyahu made remarks that could be seen as no less than a shot across the bow, warning Obama that Israel will not wait for him to act in order to protect itself.

“I can guarantee you this, the days when the Jewish people remain passive in the face of genocidal enemies — those days are over,” he said to raucous applause. “We are no longer scattered among the nations powerless to defend ourselves.

“For the first time in 100 generations, we, the Jewish people, can defend ourselves,” he declared. “This is why as Prime Minister of Israel I can promise you one more thing. Even if Israel has to stand alone, Israel will stand!

“But I know that Israel does not stand alone. I know that America stands with Israel,” he said.

“I know that you stand with Israel.”
