Audio: Fla. science teacher’s explosive classroom rant about blacks being exploited, oppressed

A Florida high school teacher is under investigation after a student’s secret classroom recording showed he was straying far afield from the earth science curriculum — into teaching that Jesus was actually black and that American blacks are being exploited in ghettos.

Royal Palm Beach High School teacher Ezekiel Edmonds has been removed from the classroom while the Palm Beach County School District investigates whether he is the man speaking on the recording, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Some parts of a recording, allegedly made Feb. 5, are difficult to understand, but what’s being discussed clearly has nothing to do with earth science.

The man’s voice discusses how Jesus and his family were originally known to be black and how blacks in the United States are victims of other ethnic groups.

“I can’t see soul foods open up in Italian neighborhoods, in the Asian community,” the man suspected of being Edmonds says. “But we see it in the black neighborhoods.”

The recording became public after the student’s mother contacted former U.S. Rep. Allen West, whose website featured a story about it last week.

In the email to West, the mother wrote:

“Over the past several months my son had been complaining that (Ezekiel Edmonds) his science teacher wasn’t teaching science. I finally asked him for proof. My jaw dropped when I received the text from my son with a video recording …

“My son’s science teacher does not teach science. Instead, Mr. Edmonds shows videos about black oppression. He discusses how white people hold black people down, and that blacks should stand up to this oppression. He stirs up racial divisiveness in the classroom …

“I’m sorry, but kids are not about to complain about a teacher to the administration if they know they might receive retribution in the form of a bad grade. And some kids are so impressionable, that they will believe anything a teacher says ….. Don’t they need to be taught science? Don’t they have to take all of these Common Core tests and pass them? How will this help them? This is an Earth Science Class…this teacher should be teaching Earth Science, not Black Studies. I checked the text book…there is nothing about black oppression in that science text book.”

The woman has removed her son from the class.

According to the Post, a school district spokeswoman said Edmonds, 43, has been placed on “alternative duty.”
