MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry told a gathering at Cornell University that she hoped Trayvon Martin “whooped the shit out of George Zimmerman” before Martin was fatally shot by Zimmerman.
Her remarks were prompted by the Department of Justice’s decision to not seek civil rights violation charges against Zimmerman earlier this week.
“I hope he tried to stay alive, I hope he knew that he lived in a state with a Stand Your Ground Law, and I hope he whooped the shit out of George Zimmerman…cause he encountered a stranger who was prepared to kill him, and you know how I know? Because he killed him.”
Court documents from the 2013 trial indicate that Zimmerman was beaten by Martin and that his head was left bloodied, according to The Huffington Post.
Zimmerman was found no guilty at that trial.
