Iranian-American journalist warns America: Sharia law is already here

An Iranian-American investigative journalist and frequent Fox News contributor gave an alarming reason we should be concerned about what goes on in Middle Eastern countries, especially as it pertains to the practice of Sharia law.

“It’s here,” Lisa Daftari said.

She addressed her remarks on what she called “the real war on women” at the Conservative Women’s Network at the Heritage Foundation Friday.

“And some might ask why should Americans care about what goes on in those countries?” asked Daftar, whose family fled Iran during the 1979 revolution, according to CNS News. “How about tolerance for other practices; respect for Sharia law – the cultural and religious differences?” she listed.

“Well the answer is it’s not just contained to that part of the world. It’s here.”

She said that honor killings take place in the United States more frequently than what most realize.

“Every year, about 26 women are killed in the U.S. by a relative in the name of family honor,” Daftari said, and cited specific examples.

“On Jan. 1, 2008, teenage sisters Amina and Sarah Said were shot to death by their own father,” she said. “It later came to light that these murders were premeditated as honor killings in retribution for [Amina] rejecting an arranged marriage to a man in Egypt.”

Daftari then drove her point home by listing other horrifying examples of Sharia law being used as an excuse to brutalize and murder women in the United States.

“The real war on women is about the women of Iran who cannot dress as they want, dance as they want, attend the schools or obtain the jobs that they want,” Daftari said.  “They cannot file for divorce, even from a violent spouse, and even if they do, custody of all their children will go to the husband.”

And it is here.
