Corn, Maddow don tin-foil hats, fear O’Reilly’s ‘threats of violence’

The far left is reaching new levels paranoia and tin-foil-hat conspiracy claims.  Wednesday, David Corn claimed that Bill O’Reilly threatened his personal safety, speaking on The Rachel Maddow Show.

The simmering feud between Corn and Bill O’Reilly should be old news, but liberal MSNBC and Mother Jones simply won’t let it go.

O’Reilly called Corn a “guttersnipe liar” in an interview with TV Newser, saying “When they verify what I’m saying, because it’s easily verifiable, then I expect David Corn to be in the kill zone. Where he deserves to be.”  Obviously, O’Reilly was referring to the left’s desperate “hell-bent” attempts to smear him.

The New York Times reported Monday that O’Reilly told their reporter over the phone “that there would be repercussions if he felt any of the reporter’s coverage was inappropriate. ‘I am coming after you with everything I have,’ Mr. O’Reilly said. ‘You can take it as a threat.’”

Deadline published a letter Mother Jones wrote to Fox News:

We are writing with alarm about Bill O’Reilly’s response to our report investigating his characterizations of his reporting in “war zones.” We welcome criticism, but calling for our reporter “to be in the kill zone” crosses a line.  Like everyone in media today, we are concerned about the safety of our staff. We’d have hoped that statements with this kind of violent tone would not come from a fellow media professional.

O’Reilly has not backed down, and Fox News issued a statement of “full support” for him.

Speaking on Maddow’s show, Corn said he was surprised by O’Reilly’s “use of rhetoric that had a violent tone to it,” and while he isn’t personally concerned, he does have friends and family who are worried about him. Maddow agreed that was an “explicit threat” to both him and the Times.

Maddow said that Fox News is “not behaving like a news organization at all.”

And now Maddow is reaching back to 1977, when O’Reilly was a reporter for WFAA in Dallas, for more mud to sling at O’Reilly, digging up old stories about virtually unknown figures related to JFK’s assassination.

In over four decades of his news and journalism career, is it possible that O’Reilly ever said something that isn’t totally true?  Of course it is.  If the truth is served by exposing a journalist’s lie, the media must pursue the story.  But it’s becoming ever more obvious that these attacks have a purpose beyond simply exposing some lie that O’Reilly may allegedly have told during his career.

Bill O’Reilly was born in 1949, in New York City.  How many reporters will the left’s media lapdogs use to dig through 65 years of his life, frantically searching for something they can pin on him?
