VA secretary admits to falsely claiming he served in special forces – just skip the apology

Secretary of Veteran Affairs Robert McDonald has insulted the military’s prestigious and highly skilled special operation forces by claiming on camera that he served with them – when he did not.

McDonald was touring the streets of Los Angeles talking with homeless veterans. CBS cameras were rolling when McDonald had an exchange with a homeless man claiming to have served in special operation forces.

“Special forces? What years? I was in forces!” McDonald told man.

Military officers noticed McDonald’s false claim after it was broadcast and acted quickly to expose him, according to the Huffington Post.

I have no excuse,” McDonald told Huffington Post. “I was not in special forces.”

McDonald, a West Point graduate, served in the 82nd Airborne Division, but even that’s not going to save him from the harsh criticism he has coming.

The news is spreading like wild fire, and folks aren’t taking kindly to it.

It seems McDonald who became secretary of veteran’s affairs last June to clean up the scandal that wreaked havoc throughout the system, has a skill for offending his fellow veterans.

The new VA secretary found himself on the hot-seat in early February for insulting a veteran during a hearing about the mismanagement of Denver’s VA system.
