Fox News host Bill O’Reilly has come out swinging against an article published by the left leaning website Mother Jones that declared O’Reilly had falsified his experience while covering the Falklands War in 1982.
“Everything I said is verifiable. The video that I got led the Dan Rather program that night. This is insane. I never said I was on the Falkland Islands, nobody was,” O’Reilly told TV Newswer before calling the Mother Jones article a “giant piece of defamation” and one of its author, David Corn, a “far left assassin.”
In interviews with the Washington Post and Politico O’Reilly continued to call the Corn a “disgusting piece of garbage” and a “guttersnipe liar.”

The Mother Jones story centers on what they say are examples O’Reilly gave of being in a “war zone” when he covered the Falklands conflict for CBS News.
But CBS News’ Bob Schieffer told Mother Jones that “nobody from CBS got to the Falklands” and instead were stationed in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
“It’s a hit piece,” O’Reilly told Politico. “Everything I said about what I reported in South and Central America is true. Everything.”
“I was not on the Falkland Islands and I never said I was. I was in Buenos Aires,” O’Reilly added. “In Buenos Aires we were in a combat situation after the Argentines surrendered.”
O’Reilly told the Washington Post that Corn, who was a paid contributor to Fox News until 2008 and now has the same job for MSNBC, has had a vendetta against Fox News for years.
“For years he’s been trying to get Fox News,” O’Reilly told the Post. “I would never speak to the man about anything at any time.”
