Who OK’ed this?
A week of promotional events for school kids by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in the United Kingdom got off to a rocky start when the menu bearing the initials of the unfortunately named Krispy Kreme Klub was posted on Kripy Kreme’s Facebook page.

“KKK Wednesday” didn’t go over very well with the public. It turns out the initials have the same meaning for some people in England as it does in the United States: Ku Klux Klan.
And for those who didn’t get it, the Hull Daily Mail pointed out, “The robed and hooded group was known for violence against African Americans in the 19th and 20th centuries and still exists today.”
(It mainly exists in the fevered imagination of Al Sharpton and various MSNBC hosts, but that’s America’s problem, not England’s.)
To be fair, every person in England can’t be expect to be on familiar terms with every racial hate group in the United States, but the Hull Krispy Kremer told the Daily Mail the promotion had gone all the way up the chain.
“This was sent from head office so it has been advertised at all the outlets,” he said..
The event is still scheduled for Wednesday with a different name, yet to be decided.
