The Rev. Franklin Graham is rallying the faithful.
In a Facebook posting Monday that had been shared almost 150,000 times by Tuesday afternoon, the son of crusading evangelist the Rev. Billy Graham and president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, asked followers how the world would react if the video released Sunday showing Coptic Christians being beheaded in the name of Islam had featured killers and victims with their beliefs reversed.

“Can you imagine the outcry if 21 Muslims had been beheaded by Christians?” Graham wrote. “Where is the universal condemnation by Muslim leaders around the world?”
Graham knows the answer to that. Just like he and everyone else with a brain knows the vicious horror that would have gripped the western media and politicians if 21 Muslims had been summarily executed in a public spectacle — for the simple fact of their religious beliefs.
But Graham’s posting wasn’t simply critical. It took a grim look at the future, too.
“As we mourn with the families of those 21 martyrs, we’d better take this warning seriously as these acts of terror will only spread throughout Europe and the United States,” Graham wrote.
Maybe the warning will be heeded in some places. But it’s an excellent bet that it won’t be taken seriously by a White House that tried to denounce the crime while pretending its religious motivation didn’t even exist.
And it definitely won’t be taken seriously by a president who reaches back nearly a millennium to find fault with Christianity – ostensibly his own religion – when the headlines and newscasts are filled daily with atrocities in the name of Islam.
Graham’s words aren’t falling on deaf ears.
@Franklin_Graham @OCAmericans Amen! Thank you for speaking up!
