President Obama cleared of rape charge, San Diego news station reported inadvertently

Oops! A San Diego-area TV station made a whopper of a blooper.

While reporting on the San Diego chief prosecutor’s decision to drop charges against a local rape suspect, Fox News channel 5 showed a stock photo of the president.

“The only suspect in a sex assault at SDSU [San Diego State University] will not be charged,” the station’s Kathleen Bade reported while a photo of Obama popped up over her left shoulder with a caption: “No charges.”

Two days after the mistake, Fox 5 anchor Misha DiBono read this statement:

“And we have an apology now. Friday night at 10 o’clock, we inadvertently used a photo of President Obama while reporting on a story about charges being dropped in a local case. We regret the error.”

Well, now that the DA has decided to drop charges, the president can still keep his golf dates.
