During a Huffington Post interview, NBA Hall of Famer Karl Malone took a stand on racial issues guaranteed to rankle the professional race-baiters in the country.
Echoing the opinions on race made by another NBA legend, Charles Barkley, Malone said American blacks need to take responsibility for their own lives.
After playing a clip from Barkley’s earlier sentiments in which he said the black community should “look into the mirror” and assume responsibility, interviewer Marc Lamont Hill asked Malone for his thoughts.
“I echo his sentiments exactly,” Malone said. “We need to look in the mirror ourselves and stop waiting on someone to come march on our behalf. Take ownership ourself, make our community better and stop looking for a handout.”
Then he addressed the race-baiters like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
“Stop using the excuse about race. I am sick and tired that every time you turn around, that’s what we dangle,” Malone said. “Our problem now is we do so much talking and beating things to death. Let’s take ownership in ourselves.”
