White House press secretary Josh Earnest spent seven minutes sparring with the press corps Tuesday over President Barack Obama’s use of the word, “random” in an interview to describe the victims of an Islamist terror attack at a kosher supermarket in Paris last month.
Part of that seven minutes was dedicated to the administration’s downplaying of Islamic terrorism to the point that it considers global warming the greater threat.
“This was not a ‘random shooting of a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris,’” ABC News White House correspondent Jonathan Karl told Earnest, quoting Obama in the interview. “This was an attack on a kosher deli. Was there any doubt that the terrorists attacked that deli because there were Jews in that deli?”
No matter how many times the question was asked by both Karl and Fox News White House correspondent Ed Henry, Earnest refused to admit that Jews were specifically targeted in the raid.
