US took in 2 immigrants for every net job created in 15 years, study reveals

A new report from an immigration watchdog group throws more cold water on Democrat claims that illegal immigrants take only the “jobs Americans won’t do.”

The Center for Immigration Studies found that immigration to the United States — legal and illegal — outnumbered job creation by a rate of 2 to 1 over the past 15 years.

And those numbers blow a hole in what little argument President Obama and his supporters make for the sweeping amnesty program Obama announced in November, barely two weeks after his party was demolished by American voters in the midterm elections.

In that speech, before an audience of cheering, largely Hispanic, high school students in Las Vegas, Obama painted his amnesty-by-fiat plan as aimed at workers on the bottom rung of the American work force.

“Are we a nation that tolerates the hypocrisy of a system where workers who pick our fruit and make our beds never have a chance to get right with the law?” he asked.

And blah, and blah and tear-jerking blah.

When the emotion – and the president’s habit of playing to the audience – gets stripped away, the immigration argument comes down to the basic numbers of job creation versus the number of workers in the country available to fill them.

Or, as the CIS report put it:

“The key question for policymakers is whether it makes sense to allow in this number of legal immigrants and tolerate this level of illegal immigration when long-term job growth has not come close to matching these numbers.

“Moreover, this record immigration has occurred at a time when job growth has not even kept pace with natural population increase, let alone new immigration. Unfortunately, policy-makers have given little though to the adsorption capacity of the U.S. labor market when formulating immigration policy.”

That’s because the “policy-makers” in the case of Obama’s amnesty program aren’t really interested in its economic impacts or the U.S. labor market.

Obama and his Democrat Party are hungry for more little government-dependent Democrats to add to the voting rolls.

And if the number of immigrants outnumbers the number of jobs the United States is creating, ask far as Democrats are concerned, the more the merrier.
