The richest 85 people in the world have a combined net worth equal to that of the poorest 3.5 billion, according to a January report on wealth inequality from Oxfam, an international confederation of organizations seeking poverty reduction throughout the world.
This is fantastic,” Canadian businessman and reality-TV star Kevin O’Leary told his co-host, Amanda Lange on “The Lang and O’Leary Exchange.”
No, O’Leary isn’t a sadist, he’s not insane and he wasn’t kidding.
“This is a great thing because it inspires everybody, and gets them the motivation to look up to the 1 per cent and say, I want to become one of those people. I’m going to fight hard and get up to the top.”
And that’s the hope that only capitalism can offer, he argued.
“If you work hard, you might be stinking rich one day,” he old a dumbfounded and frustrated Lange.
And O’Leary should know. He started from nothing, worked hard, and is “stinking rich” himself — $300 million “stinking rich.”
