An anti-gun organization that called the sister of a murder victim hoping to get her support in pushing for stricter gun control laws in Oregon got a big surprise instead.
The group, Everytown for Gun Safety, phoned Jennie Cochran, whose sister, Jessie Doyle, was shot and killed by her husband, Josh Cavett, in 2013. The gun-grabbers assumed she would support their mission.
Cochran surprised them by telling them not to use her sister’s story for their propaganda.
“I’m very pro-gun, as is Jessie, so I would really hope that you guys don’t use her story for anything,” Cochran told the group in audio of the phone call broadcast by “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday. “Because the only thing that would have saved her was a gun.”
“There’s no way that the police would have gotten there in time had she just dialed 911,” Cochran told “Fox & Friends” host Brian Kilmeade. He (Cavett) is a felon. He’s gonna have a gun, and the only thing that would have leveled it out is if she had one too.”
She said it’s important that her sister’s story isn’t used to promote an anti-gun agenda.
“I don’t want them to take what happened with my sister and use it to make more victims because that’s exactly what they’re gonna do,” she said.
”When they push for more gun laws, they’re creating a society of victims.”
