Paul Ryan gives Chuck Todd a lesson in the Constitution — and the powers of Congress

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan took NBC’s Chuck Todd to school Sunday morning, trying to educate the guy about America’s constitutional system even though he didn’t want to hear about it at all.

Todd was at his “Meet the Press” worst, pretending to ask an objective question but with the point he was determined to get clearly in mind: namely, that House Speaker John Boehner had no right to invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint meeting of Congress without White House approval.

Fortunately for “Meet the Press” viewers, and the country as a whole, the Wisconsin congressman, who was the Republican nominee for vice president in 2012, knows a thing or two about how this government works.

“Do you think that the Netanyahu thing,” Todd asked. “Do you think that was sort of getting involved in foreign policy in a way that maybe the legislative branch shouldn’t have done that to the executive?”

(Hint: He thought the answer was “Yes.”)

Ryan brushed the question aside.

“So, look at the Constitution,” he said. “These are three separate but equal branches of government. We don’t subserve one to the other.”

He could have stopped with “look at the Constitution.” Libs stop listening after that anyway.
