CNN’s breaking story a few days ago that at least one of the five Taliban commanders who were released in exchange for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is attempting to return to battle made the Bergdahl-Taliban swap a fitting subject for Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro’s opening statement Saturday.
And the judge was fuming.
At the time of the exchange, the White House assured the American people that the five detainees were rehabilitated — had taken up yoga and farming.
“I didn’t know the Taliban grew anything but opium,” she quipped.
But the real issue lay in the numbers: “Why five for one,” she asked.
She also poured scorn on a White House spokesman’s statement last week that President Obama’s negotiations to secure Bergdahl’s release somehow fit U.S. policy not to negotiate with terrorists.
“Now the Taliban are not terrorists?” she asked.
