Like a hammer in search of a nail, #BlackLivesMatter protesters are quick to jump on any incident to decry racial injustice at the hands of police, regardless of the timing or circumstances.
In the latest incident, a Milwaukee Starbucks has become the unfortunate target of the protester’s ire, following the death of Dontre Hamilton.
Last April.
Hamilton, a black man, was killed after Starbucks employees called police about a man sleeping in a park. A white officer who responded said Hamilton became combative while he was being patted down and gained control of the officer’s baton, striking him with it, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The officer pulled his weapon and shot Hamilton multiple times.
The now-former officer was not charged after it was determined the use of force was justified self-defense.
So the protesters say Hamilton’s death is Starbucks fault — for hiring racists. Under the banner “Coalition for Justice,” the activists claim Hamilton was racially profiled by the Starbucks employees who called the police.
And the provocateurs besieged the Starbucks on Friday, and it wasn’t to get a Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte.
Here are a number of tweets capturing their efforts to harass the business, which included a note for Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.
The first two tweets are from an account set up by the protesters, the remaining tweets are from WISN 12 News reporter Ben Hutchinson:
