Trump pulls no punches: Romney ‘choked like a dog’

Donald Trump told the gang at “Fox & Friends” Monday that he couldn’t support an establishment Republican like former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president after his unsuccessful run in 2012.

“He choked like a dog,” he said of Romney’s performance last time out.

After discussing President Obama’s proposed tax hikes during Trump’s regular weekly appearance, they got to the issue of the 2016 GOP presidential lineup. A recent CBS poll has Romney in the lead.

“Frankly, he just choked, choked like a dog, and we cannot allow that to happen again. The Romneycare is still with you, many other issues including the 47 percent statement that’s going to be brought up again, and he’ll lose for the same reason,” Trump said.

“But most importantly, some people cannot get the ball over the line and he was never able to get the ball over the line. We can’t do it again,” Trump said. “He’s a nice man, but we can’t do that again. We really need help in this country. This country is going to be a disaster if we keep going along the way we’re going.”

Trump also called Obama’s proposed $320 billion tax hike a “divisive” and a “disaster” during the interview.

“I guess he’s dividing the country again. Whether it’s white and black, whether it’s rich and poor, middle-income, he’s a divisive guy. He was supposed to be the one that brings everyone together and he brings everyone apart in actuality. He’s a disaster,” Trump said.

Obama will outline his tax proposal at Tuesday’s State of the Union address.
