Former rapper-turned-rock ānā roll Republican Kid Rock is as reliable as ever.
On the verge of releasing his 10th album in February, “First Kiss,” he sat down for an interview with the lefty U.K. newspaper the GuardianĀ and made it clear his basic positions hadnāt changed.

Some Republicans might be uncomfortable with his position ā or non-position ā on moral issues like abortion and homosexual marriage. But he pushes a generally libertarian line thatās at least intellectually defensible. (Unlike the incoherent ārightsā the left keeps inventing.)
And when it comes to being told by the PC police to keep his mouth shut, heās got one very direct answer.
Here are a few samples of Rockās Guardian interview: (Surprise! Some strong language ahead.)
I am definitely a Republican on fiscal issues and the military, but I lean to the middle on social issues. I am no fan of abortion, but itās not up to a man to tell a woman what to do. As an ordained minister I donāt look forward to marrying gay people, but Iām not opposed to it.
I played Barack Obamaās inauguration even though I didnāt vote for him. I didnāt agree with his policies, but there was an exciting sense of change in the air. That promise hasnāt been fulfilled ā the country is more divided than ever.
I donāt smoke much weed, it makes me dumb. But they should legalise and tax everything: pot, cocaine, heroin. Has it not been proven that people will always find a way to get what they want?
Iām always buying more guns. I have everything from a Civil War cannon to an MP5 machine gun and old police guns. If someone invades your house, yeah, you can shoot them. I donāt think crazy people should have guns.
Rap-rock was what people wanted at the time, and they still love those songs at shows. But it turned into a lot of bullshit and it turned out to be pretty gay⦠If someone says you canāt say āgayā like that you tell them to go fuck themselves. Youāre not going to get anything politically correct out of me.
Heās a 43-year-old entertainer/entrepreneur with a summer-tour record thatās the envy of the business, thanks to a business deal that capped ticket prices at a crazy low $20 but ensured sold-out arenas — and a share of all profits.
And heās as reliable as ever.
