Charlie Rangel . . . First congressman ‘to shop for a Havana condo deal?’

It doesn’t take much of an imagination to see the folks at NBC salivating over the opportunity to be among the first to broadcast live from Havana, Cuba.

In a fortuitous turn of events, tax-cheat Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., was in Havana with a medical association focused on the treatment for diabetes when the announcement was made that President Obama will restore diplomatic relations with the communist government of Cuba.

Rangel was featured on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” and being an elected official most likely to be on the lookout for a Caribbean hideout, he wholeheartedly supported the decision.

“I have never been more proud to be an American,” Rangel said, adding that the Cuban people were dancing in the streets. Whether the tango was scripted by the totalitarian government or not is hard to say.
