A New York City father said he was left speechless when a city officer told him they were too busy with protests to look for his missing son.

Andreas Robbins, 25, left a note on Monday saying he was going to jump off the George Washington Bridge and hasn’t been seen since, according to the New York Post.

Robbins’ father, Columbia University professor Bruce Robbins, said the cops were cooperative in the beginning but have since proven unhelpful.

A detective told him no officers were available to take up the missing person case “because everyone is out there dealing with the consequences of the Eric Garner case,” Bruce Robbins told the Post.

“I was kind of speechless,” Robbins said.

The New York City Police Department refuted Robbins’ claims, insisting that officers have been “working diligently” searching for the missing man. The agency said it has sent out boats, aviation units and has canvassed Andreas Robbins’ neighborhood, according to the Post.

Andreas was seen on surveillance cameras leaving his apartment at 7:45 p.m. Monday, according to the Post.

“The note said that he wanted his savings to be given to an organization that fights depression and fight suicide and that he wanted his ashes strewn in the Mediterranean, which is where his mother is from,” his father said.

As of Saturday, Andreas Robbins had not been found.
