Walmart changes innocuous ‘I can’t breathe’ ad because mob now rules

Walmart is editing a recent commercial amid customer complaints.

The commercial shows a black father giving his daughter a Walmart Unlimited phone. The daughter excitedly hugs her father tightly around the neck and he mouths “I can’t breathe.”

That phrase has become a mantra for protesters across the nation marching against the grand jury’s decision to not indict white New York City police Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the chokehold death of black male Eric Garner. During the arrest Garner is heard saying “I can’t breathe” 11 times before he ultimately died.

The retail giant took to Twitter to explain its decision to edit the video.

“We’re re-editing as we speak based on feedback we’ve received,” Walmart tweeted. “We can see how the ad could be viewed differently today than when it first aired.”

Many on Twitter however, have chimed in to mock the company’s decision.
