Although providing cameras for officers has been endorsed by the Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton for months, the pilot program got pushed forward by a month to allow cops to get the cameras cameras starting Dec. 3, police sources told the New York Daily News.

Hopefully, New Yorkers will respond in an intelligent way to whatever news the Garner grand jury delivers. But outfitting cops with cameras could be a step in the right direction towards transparency.
