Indian girls riding public bus let loose on attackers with belt . . . is this for real?

A video circulating on the Internet shows two young women in India fighting off men sexually harassing them on a bus on their way to college — but some have begun questioning it’s validity.

The video shows the two women, identified only as Arati and Pooja, punching and hitting the men with a belt while other passengers watched.

“One of the boys started touching my sister and making kissing gestures. I told him to go away or I would teach him a lesson,” Arati told reporters. “Then he called another boy saying that we have to beat up two girls. And then the other boy got on the bus.”

The girls said that instead of helping them, the other passengers warned them not to provoke the men because they may get attacked or have acid poured on them, reported Yahoo News.

According to Yahoo, police have arrested three men and have begun an investigation into the incident.

The girls drew praise from Naveen Jindal, a federal legislator from Haryana who tweeted praise for the girls.

However, on Tuesday rumors began to swirl on social media that the girls may have staged this event as video of a similar incident involving the girls beating a man in a park surfaced.

Considering that these attacks by men are all too  common in India, it is possible that both of these incidents are legitimate.
