Texas governor-elect plans new lawsuit against Obama; president is ‘unconstrained by the Constitution’

The incoming governor of Texas plans to file his 31st lawsuit against the president — this time for Obama’s executive action on amnesty.

Chris Wallace, host of “Fox News Sunday,” asked newly elected Gov. Greg Abbott why he has filed so many lawsuits against Obama.

“Because this president, more than any other president, has abdicated his responsibility to uphold and enforce the Constitution,” Abbott said. “We have a president who feels completely unconstrained by the Constitution.”

Abbott has seen reasonable success with previous lawsuits against the president. In fact, while speaking to tea party group last year, Abbott described his job as Texas’ attorney general by saying, “I go into the office, I sue the federal government, and I go home.”

“I have won a majority of those cases. Look what happened recently this past summer when the United States Supreme Court said the president violated the Constitution with the appointment to the National Labor Relations Board,” Abbott told Wallace. “Look at what is going on with the Supreme Court taking another case that involves Obamacare because of executive action.”

In most of the cases, Texas was the lead, or only, plaintiff, according to The Associated Press.

Abbott ended Sunday’s interview by calling the president’s actions the “epitome of lawlessness that leads to dire consequences for our future if we don’t have attorney generals making sure the president abides by the law.”

The governor’s Twitter supporters were quick to tell him how they felt about his lawsuit.
