Demoted Harry Reid has a brainstorm: ‘Women think differently than men’

Soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid held a news conference Thursday to announce the expansion of his leadership team in the wake of midterm losses last week that cost his party the Senate.

The addition of Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Amy Klobuchar to an expanded Senate Democrat leadership means that the team will now consist of eight of an expected 44 Democrats in the Senate. That should provide plenty of opportunity the spread the blame around should the Democrats experience Shellacking 3.0 in 2016.

In announcing the additional team members, Reid made a statement that would have instigated calls for tar, feathers and perhaps a rail to run the offender out of town on had it come from anyone even slightly right of center.

Critics were quick to pick up on the apparent break from the usual liberal rhetoric, which commonly eschews gender-based differences.

Those with more traditional ideas about gender, however, found the comment unworthy of their attention.

Others asked perceptive questions about the move and Reid’s announcement.

Perhaps Reid thought that the election losses were the result of too many Redskins, not enough Chiefs — or something like that.

I think we all know the answer to that one.

Perhaps the best theory for the addition of two women to the Democrat leadership team was also the most cynical:

Not that anyone would ever accuse Harry Reid of being a cynic, of course.
