GOP lawmakers ask Twitter users for photos of vets: ‘The best of America’

With Veterans Day just a few days away — Tuesday, Nov. 11 — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy turned to Twitter on Friday to ask social media users to honor veterans in their lives by posting their photo, using the hashtag: 

U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., joined in by tweeting a photo himself in jump school back in 1975. He also retweeted photos posted by others. Take a look at a youthful Issa, looking lean and mean:

Between the two Republican lawmakers, Twitter was flooded with an avalanche of inspiring photos, from the current engagement in Afghanistan to World War Two — seeing these vets wearing garrison caps tilted sharply to one side in a show of cocky self assurance is sure to bring a smile to your face.

Here’s but a small sampling, God bless America and her veterans!
