Debbie Wasserman Shultz is outdoing herself.
The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, well on her way to becoming a national embarrassment, has issued ever more pathetic appeals for funds from the Democrat faithful heading into Tuesday’s midterms. But her most recent email should be turning even the most shameless liberal faces beet-red.
“Right now, we have a shot at winning races in blood-red states like Nebraska, West Virginia and Arkansas … But we still don’t have the resources to get out the votes we need to win on Election Day. So, I’m pleading with you. Can you please chip in something right now?”
That particularly purple prose probably sounded good to progressive ears, but to the more sober among us, it carries the fetid air of desperation. And when emails like that are going go staunch — and prolific — conservatives like Jonah Goldberg, a National Review senior editor and columnist, mockery is guaranteed.

“@JonahNRO: “Quite frankly” pic.twitter.com/YmfUrrzWXt” I love that they are “blood red” states – could she be more asinine in her rhetoric?

@JonahNRO Ugh! Didn’t @greggutfeld declare that a banned phrase eons ago?

What’s really puzzling is DWS’s apparently vaunted opinion of herself. As Politico reported in September in “Democrats turn on Debbie Wasserman Schultz,” her tenure as DNC chairwoman has made her as many enemies in her own party as it has among Republicans. So who exactly was this appeal directed at?
@JonahNRO What’s amazing is that if Obama & Hillary didn’t convince you, @DWStweets thinks she can seal the deal.

@JonahNRO Email her back that you’re waiting for an email from that hottie from Texas, Wendy Davis!

Comparative “hottie-ness” aside, it’s safe to say that whatever charms Wasserman Schultz possesses are wasted on this audience. (Strong language ahead.)
@JonahNRO How do these ridiculous emails generate anything besides laughter? They can’t be driving donations can they?
— Jose Roig (@joseroig) November 1, 2014
@JonahNRO Debbie, it’s bad enough you bleed us dry in taxes, now you have the gall to beg for more? Fuck you and the horse you rose in on!
— Doc Farmer (@Doc_Farmer) November 1, 2014
Ahem. That’s putting it, as Jonah Goldberg might say, “quite frankly.”
But the fact is, if the best argument the Dems have got is Debbie Wasserman Schultz playing Lady Macbeth to an ignorant crowd, they’re going to have a long night on Tuesday.
