Obama’s protecting emails Eric Holder sent to his wife, Judicial Watch finds

Like a parent protecting his child, President Obama continues to cover for the embattled outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder.

Judicial Watch announced Thursday that the president is trying to hide several emails related to the “Fast & Furious” scandal that Holder sent to his wife.

“President Obama has asserted executive privilege over nearly 20 email communications between Holder and his spouse Sharon Malone,” the government Watchdog group wrote. “The administration also claims that the records are also subject to withholding under the ‘deliberative process’ exemption.”

The latter exemption is used to prevent the disclosure of records that might make it tough for officials to hold internal discussions. The group said the exemption shouldn’t apply as Malone is not a government agent.

The administration presented a 1,307-page index detailing thousands of additional documents it is withholding.

“There is no precedent for President Obama’s Nixonian assertion of executive privilege over these ordinary government agency records,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. “Americans will be astonished that Obama asserted executive privilege over Eric Holder’s emails to his wife about Fast and Furious.”

According to Judicial Watch the emails show Holder was participating in writing talking points regarding the scandal and was communicating with the White House during the operation.

Holder is set to retire sometime in 2015.
