The Obamas almost had to “dine and dash” out of a New York restaurant after the president’s credit card was rejected during his recent trip to address the United Nations General Assembly.
“Apparently they thought there was some fraud going on,” President Obama told employees of the Consumer Financial Protection Board today, when his comments were picked up by C-SPAN cameras, according to The Washington Times.
The incident proved that “even I am affected” by problems with American financial institutions, Obama joked.
The president made the remarks while signing yet another executive order. This one, the White House claims, will enhance the security of the federal payments system.
Of the restaurant episode, Obama explained that his card had been put on hold because of disuse. Michelle paid for their meal with her card.
“Turns out I guess I don’t use it enough,” he said.
Well, of course not. Like any self-respecting Democrat, this president is used to sticking someone else with the bill.
