Nurse with Ebola shares video message from hospital bed

Nina Pham and Amber Vinson are the two nurses fighting for their lives after contracting the deadly Ebola virus while treating Thomas Duncan at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

A YouTube video of Pham in her hospital bed before being transferred to the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical Center in Maryland was released by Texas Health Resources Thursday.

One of her treating physicians, Dr. Gary Weinstein, recorded his conversation with her before she was discharged and Pham asked that the video be shared.

An emotional Pham began with a brave face, saying, “Come to Maryland, everybody.” But she broke down after Weinstein told her how proud everyone was of her for caring for the “first patient.”

“I love you guys,” Pham said through her tears.

“Crying is not allowed,” Weinstein said. “Only happy tears.”
