There has been plenty of focus on actress Gwyneth Paltrow‘s embarrassing adulation of President Obama during a Friday fundraiser held at her Los Angeles home, but her neighbors were not nearly as enamored.
Some want to kick the A-list actress out of the upscale neighborhood because of the event, which cost $1,000 to $32,000 per head.
“Traffic stood still, children were stranded at school, residents could not leave their own driveways,” The New York Times reported. “That’s not the way life is supposed to be lived in Mandeville Canyon.”

According to The Times, neighbor Bret Lewis posted on a private website for residents that the neighborhood doesn’t need people “who pay no heed to the concerns of their neighbors.”
“She belongs in the movie theaters, and President Obama can entertain in the Staples Center,” he wrote.
Lewis said his family was forced to hang out at a restaurant “with a bunch of other displaced residents” because they could not get to their home.
“My 13-year-old daughter broke into tears, was unable to do her homework,” he said. “We finally got home at 9:00 and my daughter was up late studying, ultimately ill-prepared for her exams.”
“I have a crying child on a soccer field!” a woman yelled as she passed by the fundraiser. She was among the lucky few allowed to drive through the neighborhood, The Times reported.
Another resident, Kim Peterson, posted on the website that residents were not told what to expect in a presidential visit.
“The biggest problem yesterday is we did not know the Canyon would be totally closed down,” she wrote. Otherwise, “we could have all planned accordingly.”
It certainly sounds as if Paltrow has some fences to mend in her own backyard, assuming she’s finished swooning over Obama.
