Pushing the narrative that there are racial implications behind the death of the Liberian man diagnosed with Ebola, Geraldo Rivera got into a heated clash with Fox News host Eric Bolling Thursday on the “The O’Reilly Factor.”
Thomas Duncan died Wednesday morning at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, and Rivera suggested it was because he was “poor, black and uninsured.”
“It was either gross malpractice or it was the doctor seeing yet another poor black man without insurance in the emergency room, yet again, these urban hospitals overrun with patients without insurance,” Rivera said. “I think there’s almost zero chance that his race or social class played no role.”

“How could you bring race?” asked Bolling, who was filling in for Bill O’Reilly. “You know what, Geraldo, I would expect Al Sharpton to bring race into this, I would expect Jesse Jackson to bring race into this, I would not expect Geraldo Rivera to bring race into this.”
Jackson has also questioned the care Duncan received, but little has been offered to support the claims.
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital released a statement on the charge: “Our care team provided Mr. Duncan with the same high level of attention and care that would be given any patient, regardless of nationality or ability to pay for care.”
Duncan first sought treatment at the hospital on Sept. 25 and was sent home with antibiotics, returning in about two days, Reuters reported. He told a nurse during his initial visit he had just returned from West Africa, according to the article.
Bolling pushed Rivera, saying he was playing the wrong card, that he “should be playing the medical insurance card.”
Rivera would eventually undermine his own argument when he acknowledged that if Duncan was a “white bum,” he would have received the same treatment.
